I am trying to find the correct part number for the starter in my A4 3.0 TDI avant (SM55GNK). There seems to be 2 starters (maybe more), both quite different at the business end but according to the online parts catalogue I have been looking at (Audi.7zap.com), either should do. I don't believe it as they look so different, does anyone have access to any VAG parts cataloges and could identify the correct number and a daigram would also be helpful. The car is a 204 Bhp with Tip-tronic box, engine code BKN.

Cheers Hawk, yeah I have been there before but it only narrows it down to 2 numbers and both very different as I was saying. Shame the rest seem to be closed down, I liked Vag-Cat, used to use that a lot.

Cheers guys, haven't been on for a few days, oops
I will keep the etka link, I always thought you needed a login for that. Actual part number, now is excellent though Stew. That will let me buy it and put the car off the road before it puts it's self off the road half way up the M8 or something
