Hi guys,
Just bought a mk5 golf.
Would like to know how to do tweeks and mods with vagcom.
I've downloaded vcds and bought a cable but I keep getting errors: interface not found.
Would appreciate it if someone could help me set it up and show me how to use it.
I'll come to you to get it done.
Here's my email: jaggy_919@Hotmail.Co.uk
Thanks.

Did you get a genuine cable or an ebay cheapo.
Cheap cables usually only work with vcds lite. Which won't do the mods. Will read fault codes though.
I think you can get some that will, but they only work with a certain version of vcds. So if you have the newest version of the software from the website it will detect that the cable is none genuine.

Before you do anything you have to tell vcds where the cable is.

Plug the cable in but don't start vcds yet.
Go to device manager on your pc.
Find the cable in the list of devices.
If it has a com port next to the name remember it. If not go into properties for the device and find the com port number.
Run vcds.
go into settings.
select the com port as the one your cable is connected to.
save settings.

Once you have done this it should work.

Ben.
