Hi,
Just joined the forum having bought a Mk5 Golf GTi the last few days from a friendly chap in Edinburgh.
Sods law, 10 minutes after purchase, as soon as I had filled the tank with £50 of ESSO Premium unleaded the dreaded "Emissions control warning light" came on.
I've had a search through the "Mk5golfGTi" forums and suspect it might be fumes from overfilling contaminating the carbon canister since the car drives absolutely fine with no loss of power.
Anyhoo, is there anyone in the Glasgow area with VCDS/VAG.com who would be kind enough to run a diagnostic scan for me please.
Could I just buy an OBDII blutooth transmitter with Torque for android to get the correct error codes?
Many Thanks in advance.

I have a bluetooth obd reader with torque pro and it doesn't work on my newly purchased mk5 gti, I used a generic rac code reader and that worked fine.

I have VCDS and can run a scan for you. Pm me and we can arrange something.

Ben.

Sorry for the delay in update.
@BenGould
Many thanks for the offer. Fortunately the "emissions control warning light" clicked off after a few days with no obvious consequence to engine running.
I suspect it was due to me overbrimming the tank.
Thanks again for the input
