Drives: mk2 16v, mk2 8v, mk4 GTI 1.8t + mk4 gt tdi 130.
Having been a fan of yoko paradas and toyo proxes, i thought i would try a sub £100 a corner tyre a few years back.

I have ran them on both a tdi 130 mk4 and a 1.8t mk4.

They grip amazingly in the wet, with me matching my fastest time in the dry in my mk2 to work in the tdi during a monsoon, and i have yet to experience any negatives in the dry.

At £56 a corner in 225 40 18 via camskill (and others now) they cant be beat, but having gone through 16 now (8 still in operation) my only complaint being that two have burst on the tdi and one on my sisters fiesta

They also appear to melt when fitted to a torquey diesel and attention must be paid to regular front to back changes

I have had them on the Alhambra, right up until I put the 18's on.

As you say, they grip well enough. I do find the sidewalls too soft though, and so they don't really inspire too much confidence. Even though I've never actually lost traction with them (although the Alhambra is a family duties motor, so not exactly driven hard). It could, of course, be down to the higher profile on them too, but they were XL rated tyres, and many comments online do confirm the softer sidewall.

In essence, I wouldn't personally buy them again, but I have no problem recommending them to someone else, with the proviso of the softer sidewalls.
